Pippa & Alison are excited to be offering their first retreat at The Sorrento Centre, in Sorrento BC. This beautiful 24 acre site, will be the home of an experience providing nourishment for your soul. We will dive deeply into connecting with land, water and voice, culminating in a co-creative collective art making process.

From campfire connections to exploration of art techniques and contemporary art, you will be immersed in expressing your creative voice in unison with fellow participants and Earth.

Join Artists Pippa Dean-Veerman & Alison Beaumont for an immersive and rejuvenating retreat. This retreat is for anyone who wishes to connect deeply with creativity and conversation with the land. Through the 3-days and two nights you will have opportunities to explore the beautiful Sorrento Centre grounds, be nourished with creative practice and delicious home cooked food, culminating in a group artwork embodying the experience. Space is limited to keep this retreat intimate

Activities include: Visit to Adams River Salmon Run, Mindful movements, Cyanotype process, Mindfulness photography, Fibre Art, Weaving with cattails, Charcoal, Journaling, Lake Immersions.

Are you ready to dive in? Below is an outline of the retreat activities, we have curated a rich experience for a limited number of participants. We are excited to connect with a group of individuals who are ready to embrace their creative voice in partnership with Earth.

Schedule

Day 1 - Friday 30th September

• 11:30am to 2pm Visit to Adams River - Salmon Run. Meet at Tsútswecw Provincial Park at 11:30am, bring a brown bag lunch. This is the first day of the Salute to the Salmon ($10 cost per vehicle paid at park, consider carpooling). We will enjoy our lunches as we land in place, taking the afternoon to explore and be inspired by the life salmon life cycle. Bring your camera, phone and sketchbook as we guide you though photographing, sketch and journal inspirations for the creativity ahead. At 2pm we will head back to the Sorrento Centre to check-in to our accommodations and settle in.

• 3pm to 4:15pm Arrive at Sorrento Centre check in at Spes Bona, then proceed to Richardson and your assigned room. Alison and Pippa will have tea and treats to welcome you.  

• 4:30 m to 5:15pm Gather in the Richardson Conference Room for slide presentation of examples of current and past land based art - artists voices, is there a merging of the voice of the land as we merge with place?  Relationship with land, concerns for the land, the Earth…Me to We foundations…with Earth, with each other.

• 5:30 to 6:30pm Welcome dinner, a home cooked meal at the dining hall (below Richardson)

• 7:00 to 9pm Campfire on shuswap lake, intention setting, journaling, sharing circle. Then, music and dancing! Option to bring an instrument (hand drum, ukulele, guitar, shakers).

• 9pm to 9:30pm Walk back to Richardson, short guided meditation before bed.

Day 2 - Saturday 1st October

• 6:45am to 7:45am Optional Shuswap Lake Immersion and/or journaling by the lake. Start your day with some gentle movements, a lake dip or just take some time to journal.

• 8am to 9am Breakfast is served in the Richardson Dining Hall (below lodge rooms)

• 9:15 am to 12 Noon - In Breath

  • Inbreath - meet in the Richardson Conference  

  • Earthing, sit spots, listening, Eliciting Earth’s voice

  • Conversing, Creative discussion, manifesting voice

  • Labyrinth 

  • Mindfulness Photography

• 12:30pm to 1:30pm Lunch in the Richardson Dining Hall

• 1:30pm to 4pm - Innate Creative Expression

  • Skill building - techniques to carry message 

  • Cyanotype

  • Natural Materials - Cattails, Fibre-art etc

  • Charcoal

  • Watercolour

• 4pm to 5pm Personal reflection/writing, sit spots

• 5:30pm to 6:30pm Dinner at Richardson Dining Hall

• 6:30pm to 9pm Campfire & Conversation - developing inspirations from inbreath & skill building, group ideation, pulling together ideas for Sunday Maker Day

Day 3 - Sunday 2nd October

• 6:45am to 7:45am Optional Shuswap Lake Immersion and/or journaling by the lake. Start your day with some gentle movements, a lake dip or just take some time to journal.

• 8am to 9am Breakfast is served in the Richardson Dining Hall (below lodge rooms)

  • Check out of rooms by 10am Return key to Richardson Conference. Remove all personal items from the lodge rooms. Either to your vehicle or can store in the Richardson Conference room until departure.

• 9:15am to 12 Noon Outbreath - meet in the Richardson Conference Room

  • Our time to co-create using our embodied experiences, the work(s) created during this time will be following each of our creative callings, culminating from our time in retreat thus far.

• 12:30pm to 1:30pm Wrap-up Lunch in the Richardson Dining Hall

• 1:30pm to 3pm

  • Last minute touch ups to our installation

  • Gallery Walk and offerings, voice/song

  • Collectively choose to our work(s) destination. We can decide to leave work(s) at Sorrento or other venue

Richardson Lodge Room

Investment

This curated immersive experience includes: All instruction, accommodation, two dinners, two breakfasts and two lunches, all creative materials, and a special gift from Alison & Pippa. We have created a number of options for attendees. We will be staying in the Richardson Lodge Rooms at the Sorrento Centre, our meals will be prepared by centre staff at the Richardson Lodge Dining Room.

Available room types and total cost for retreat based on your selection:

• Double room (shared) for the retreat is $560 (If you would like to connect with another participant to set up room sharing, let us know).

• Single room for the retreat is $614 (Two available)

• Double room with single occupancy for the retreat is $650

REGISTER

Cancellations may be made up to (and including) August 31st, 2022, receiving a 100% refund. Cancellations made prior to September 15th, 2022 will incur a 50% of total fee. Cancellations made after September 15th, 2022 will not be eligible for a refund.
